The Two Ways Serial Writers Break Your Heart

And why I won't do that!

Don’t you hate it when…

You find something you love. You indulge in every part of it. Reading it, listening to it, watching it, taking it all in. And then, without warning, it’s gone. You’re left not knowing what happened. Alone and full of questions.

Serial novel writers sometimes get a bad reputation, and usually it’s for one of two things.

One, you get just enough of the book to get really hooked, and then the writer disappears. You never find out what happened.

Two, the book never ends. You can feel it building to something, and it never gets there. Just another chapter of backstory, or some B-plot that wanders off on its own tangent.

I won’t do either.

First, I have a proven track record. I’ve been shipping chapters for months now, so you know I won’t disappear. I gave the first 3 chapters of both books for free, and since then, a chapter a week like clockwork, continuing this week with chapter 16. I have over 125,000 words and more than 350 pages written and complete outlines all the way to the end of both books. I have receipts.

Second, I’ve been running a podcast, fulfilling Kickstarters, and posting regularly for the last seven years. For the books, I know exactly how many chapters are left to write and assure you both A and B plots will reach conclusions. I have plans for the next book in both series, and with the success of the first books, I am eager to start outlining them. Nothing left unfinished.

So let the notion of the disappearing serial writer dissipate. I’ll be here, and I’ll fulfill my part of the deal we make. I’ll give you what I make, I’ll tell you when you’re going to get it, and I’ll deliver.
